1.According to first legend The first story is that Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati got married on the day of Mahashivratri. Mata Parvati was born in the house of Him Raja and Rani Maina of Himachal. And because of that adi shakti, she began to concentrate on Shiva. Due to which mother Parvati, when she grew up, clearly said that she will get married only to Lord Shiva. Otherwise not with anyone else. Then more devotees and Santa started to know about Mata Parvati and her parents also agreed to get Mata Parvati married to Sankar Bhagwan and Mata Parvati got married to Lord Shiva. The day on which this marriage took place was the same day as Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Phagan. On that day and night, people worshipped Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati with Deep Mala and recited Puja. The same day itself is known as the form of Mahashivratri Parva.

2. According to another legend, When the gods and giants churned the sea, poison came out of the sea along with many other valuables. The drops of which began to fall on the earth, with which humans and other animals began to perish. Because of which all the gods and demons started to fear as this poison started to affect them. With fear all the gods and demons went to Lord Shiva. Or said Maharaj, help us. Taking pity on their plight, Lord Shiva drank all the poison that came out of the sea. With which Lord Shiva’s throat turned blue. By doing this, all the gods, demons and humanity were saved from destruction. On which Sarya worshipped Shiva day and night. This day was also Krishna Chaturdasi in the month of Phagan. Since then this day started to be celebrated as Shivratri.

3. According to the third legend which is prevalent in South India. According to this, when creation began, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma started arguing with each other. Because Visnu started saying am I big and Brahma started saying no I am big. And I came first. Thus, during their argument, an akashwani happened. With which the form of a jyotirlinga appeared and said that whoever knows the secret of this pillar first will be the greatest of you. In this way, its secret was not known by both of them. But Brahma and Vishnu got the knowledge that there is a power greater than us. This day was also the Chaturdasi of Krishna Paksha. And that day itself is celebrated as Shivratri. Because on this day all the three Gods of creation met. As the meeting of Vishnu, Brahma and Shivaji is called Shiva + Raat i.e. Shivratri. From that day this holy festival started to be celebrated.

The second pooja time will be from 9:31 PM to 12:41 AM on February 19, 2023.
The third pooja time will be on February 19 from 12:41 pm to 3:51 am.
The fourth puja time will be from 3:51 PM to 7:00 AM on February 19.
